In Spain, there is this fair of design, architecture and construction called Construmat. So what is hot in Spain now and then , was the concept of multifunctional spaces and the micro apartments of 30 square meters. Mostly used by students, immigrants and young people. The challenge was (and still is) to create a decent space in 30sq.m.
That way the houses can be transported in a container and be made of prefabricated materials.
Having this said. Living in a 30m2 space can be a traumatizing experience some of them are tricked with a very high roof and with some sort of inside courtyard but still it isn’t much space to live in.
So this artist named Nilis Nova had this amazing idea of tricking the mind with
Pictures the size of a wall that give the appearance that the room continues a bit more and that there are a few more things going on the room.
Everything is done by respecting the perspective of the space form a specific place. Gluing the picture at one or two walls.
Nilis has been doing this for a while not only in houses. It has been done also at galleries, warehouses and places like that. (as you can see in some of the pics here)
